What I Loved About My Trip to Alt Summit 2018

What I Loved About My Trip to Alt Summit 2018

I’ve been to a ton of conferences, but Alt Summit is my favorite of all them. It’s full of creative and talented people and it was in beautiful Palm Springs. There’s a lot to learn and a ton of fun to be had. If you’ve never been check out what I loved about my trip to Alt Summit 2018 below!

The People

I think this is probably the best part of the whole show. I’ve met some amazing people that are now forever friends.

Inspiration

I work from home. Alone. I mostly just talk to myself about business and do my own research. When I’m at Alt I get to chat with other business owners and bloggers to grow and learn. Talking with other creatives is inspiring and I always come home feeling refreshed and ready to apply this new business knowledge to my own work.

Our 2017 Christmas Card!

The Paper Mama Christmas Card

Another year, another card! This Christmas we really worked with Willa’s personality. Guaranteed she would tattoo Ruari if she could. The lovely Minted provided the cards for us and we shipped these beauties out to all our friends and family. I love going through Minted because of their quality and the huge variety of cards they have. I also love the fact that they will print all the addresses onto the envelopes. For free. I really don’t like addressing 100+ cards, so this is amazing.

It’s a little difficult to read the back of the card so I’m sharing what it says below. Our little disclaimer for going to Willa’s Tattoo Shop.

Hap-Hap Happiest Christmas Banner

Yay! It’s my favorite time of year. We are headed toward Christmas and I usually have a hard time waiting to put up my decorations. I wandered to Michaels and they have quite a few different Christmas collections right now and I love them all. My favorite of all is the Boho style. A lot of my Christmas decorations are along this same color scheme so it works out perfectly. Look at those vintage style ornaments! I love them. I think I’ll eventually hang them on the tree when we get one, but for now they look pretty cute in a bowl on the mantel.

To add a bit more fun to the whole set up I used some colorful paper to add a beard and hat to one of my paintings, a beard to our little bust and a “hap-hap happiest Christmas” banner. This quote is from one of my favorite Christmas movies, ‘Christmas Vacation’. If you have a Silhouette machine I provided a file for you to use this at home to cut out this quote!

Low Carb Crispy Chicken Recipe

Low Carb Crispy Chicken Recipe

I love tasty fried chicken, but it’s probably not a great idea to eat it all of the time (even though I want to). So instead I’ve come up with a paleo/low carb/gluten free version that is quite tasty. My low carb crispy chicken recipe is the perfect meal to satisfy my fried chicken cravings when I want to avoid wheat flour and all that oil in frying the chicken.

It’s an easy meal to make if you plan a bit ahead. The actual prep of the chicken takes me about 10 minutes for me (now that I make it so often). It’s just letting the “breading” sit on the chicken for about an hour that you’ll need to plan ahead for. Trust me. It’s worth letting it sit on there.

September 2018 update: I’ve been adding more variety of seasoning to this meal and you should give it a try. We like to add a tsp. of mustard and ginger powder these days. Occasionally I’ll add a 1/2 tsp. of curry powder. This adds even more flavor. Give it a try!

Are you ready to make this for yourself?

Keeping Veggies Fresh for the Bunnies (and us)!

This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks/Rubbermaid®.

I hate it when I go to grab some veggies from our vegetable drawer and they are already a squish mess even though I purchased them the day before. It drives me nuts! To keep our mass of vegetables fresh longer I tried out some Rubbermaid FreshWorks Produce Saver containers and they truly worked. They are easy to use. I just toss all my vegetables that I got from the store (or the garden) right into the containers and they lasted longer than keeping them in the bags I brought them home in. The containers have a FreshVent technology to keep produce fresher up to 80% longer* than traditional produce packaging. I’ll probably be saving some money now that I won’t be wasting as many vegetables. The containers come in six different sizes so you can fit all types of fruits and vegetables in these containers.
