The Paper Mama Photo Challenge: Self Portrait

This weeks challenge: SELF PORTRAIT!
The challenge: Time to do a self portrait! Your kids don’t have to be in this photo… but, they can! Let’s celebrate YOU!

My example of “Self Portrait”:

Ummm…. I’m proud of myself! I hate working out… hate it. I like how I feel AFTER the workout… but, I don’t like the actual act of it. So, 1 month ago I started Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred. The cool thing is this workout is only 20 minutes long. It’s TOUGH…. but, short. I’m not eating less…. just working out… eating better… eating smaller portions more often during the day. 🙂

Remember: my photo challenges do require you to have either your children or one of your furry children (pets) in the photo (unless it’s a self portrait week). It could be just one finger… or a toe… but, they must be there.

Baby Ayana’s newborn shots.

This is little baby Ayana. So sweet. I took these photos in a pretty dark room. I had the choice to go with a lower ISO with a wider aperture… or higher ISO with a smaller aperture. I should have gone with the higher ISO. I didn’t get as much clarity in the photos as I would have liked. BUT, next time. 😀 It’s easier to fix the noise in a photo from a high ISO then and out of focus image.

Which brings me to another thing… I think my nifty 50 lens (50mm 1.4) needs a tune-up. I bought it used on Ebay and I never really got it checked out. I have issues with my auto-focus. It tends to focus close to… but, not on… the spot I want to focus on. Has anyone else had this problem?

I think I’ll stop by a local camera shop this weekend and see what they say. If it does need to be fixed: I don’t know how I’m going to make it without my 50! I use it everyday. I do have the kit lens… just not the same. 🙂 Happy Friday everyone!

Your Best Shot of a child Challenge! Coming soon

Looking forward to my next photo competition! Yay! I’m very excited. First I had the Holiday Photo Challenge…. then the Valentine’s Challenge…. and now: Your Best Shot of a Child photo challenge! Starting the first week of June. There are many lovely prizes to be won!

I will have more details and info when I post the actual post in June. But, basically you will be sharing your best photo you’ve taken of a child (doesn’t have to be your babe, but permission to use/post that photo from the parent is a must. :D)! And, yes: I will accept a photo of your kitty/puppy! 😀 I’m very excited! You?
