The girls and their awkward years (days).

Wow. I realized it’s been a while since I shared my girls. My urban chickens. They are around 5 or 6 weeks old and have officially hit the awkward years (or days). I took these photos a few days ago. They’re all pretty gangly and clumsy. Trying out their wings and pooping in their water NON STOP. OMG. so many poops. in the water. why in the water?

anywho.

They have been a great addition to our family. The kiddo loves them, but chooses to not hold them. I like to get in their box and the two friendly girls (Booksat and Boca) jump in my lamp to fall asleep. It’s sweet. Mrs. Pickles has decided that all people are out to kill her. I do looooove fried chicken, so I can understand her fear/concern.

I can’t get over how fast they’ve grown. In case you’ve forgotten how adorable they once were… here you go:

This weekend we are officially kicking off the chicken coop construction. Not sure how long it will take us…. since we don’t usually build large scale structures… hopefully it goes well! Lots of chicken coop googling happening over here. Ha! Wish us luck.

Just wait, pretty soon they'll start roosting everywhere and then the poop really flies! Our girls went outside last weekend and they definitely love their new digs. The coop is actually at my sister-in-law/brother's house (we have joint custody), and she put up an awesome post about how they built it!

Can't wait to see how your coop building adventure goes!

I wish our local law allowed for chickens 🙁 Then we would have fresh eggs!

OMG, I miss the awkward 'teen years'! We'll be building our new coop within the next month hopefully and I can't wait to add more chicks and watch them grow up:)

Oh gosh, i had no idea you have chickens! They're so cute, even in their awkward stage. Hope the coop building goes smoothly 🙂

My chicks are in the exact same stage! We just upgraded from their brooder to an old wire dog crate. We haven't started our coop yet either, glad I'm not alone! Haha

They'll be big-breasted women in no time, lol!

When ours were old enough to move into the coop outside, we rigged up a hanging water system. No more poop in the water–Huzzah!

      I cannot wait for that!

YES! Always in the water or in the food. I think our girls are about the same age! Can't wait to get them outside for good!

Our girls are about 2 weeks older and they moved into their coop last weekend. Just wait 'til they get outside with their new surroundings, they are so funny to watch!
