Day 12 Gift Ideas: 16 Coffee Mug DIY Ideas

16 Coffee Mug DIY Ideas

Day 12 of my 50 DIY Days: 16 Coffee Mug DIY Ideas

Mugs are great for Christmas gifts and customizing them can be a fun project, especially for a craft night with friends, right? To turn these custom mugs into a gift just pair it with a small bag of coffee, or some special tea, and add a pretty bow to create a perfect gift for just about anyone this holiday season.

Pinterest is FULL of mug DIYs and it can be a bit overwhelming skimming through all of those ideas. So, I did homework for you and gathered some of my favorites and shared them on the Better Homes and Gardens blog. If you do head out to search for some mug DIY’s in the big internet world, just keep a few things in mind: Don’t use paint where your mouth will touch the mug (the paint is not food safe). You need to use dishwasher safe Mod Podge for a glued mug project to be successful (other Mod Podge could wash away). Plain ‘ol Sharpie pens will not last on a mug, there are special Sharpie Paint Pens to use for these projects.

To check out the full list, head on over to the original blog post on the Better Homes and Gardens blog.

Day 11 Halloween: Twin Peaks Costume Inspiration (for the ladies)

DIY Twin Peaks Costume Inspiration

Day 11 of my 50 DIY Days: Twin Peaks Costume Inspiration (for the ladies)

A couple of weeks ago I shared costume inspiration for Bob’s Burgers and I had so much fun putting it together that I decided to share some MORE inspiration for another favorite show, Twin Peaks. This show is nuts. I did not watch it when it originally aired in the 90’s, but I have caught up watching it on Netflix and I love how weird it is. There are so many amazing characters I had to pick and choose my favorites. It would take me weeks to put together inspiration for all the characters. Maybe I’ll share some more next year?

Day 9 Halloween Decoration: No Carve Cheeseburger Pumpkin (with free printables)

Day 9 of my 50 DIY Days: No Carve Cheeseburger Pumpkin

The cheeseburger pumpkin. This has been on my Halloween to-do list FOREVER. I’ve had this awesome cheeseburger pumpkin link saved for about 3 years now. I wanted to create this pumpkin with free printables so my readers can also make it, and I finally did it and shared it on the HP Create blog! This no-carve pumpkin is less mess and will last so much longer than a carved pumpkin. I’m in love with this weird little pumpkin. It’s current home is right in the center of my fireplace mantel. Do you need to make one? Not want, need? Making a cheeseburger pumpkin is probably a need.

Supplies needed to create my cute No Carve Cheeseburger Pumpkin:

Directions:

STEP 1: Print out the cheeseburger printables. I provided two sides for each printable so you can print them double sided, just be sure to click the “two-sided” box before printing (the burger and sesame seeds are the only toppings that does not need a double side). Cut out the food: I suggest cutting the cheese into triangles and cutting the tomatoes in half. You might not need all of the toppings, this will depend on how big your pumpkin is. Tip #1: You can adjust the size to make the toppings smaller before you print, if you’d like. Adjust the sizing in your print settings.

STEP 2: Fold the end of the lettuce before gluing it onto the pumpkin (this will make the lettuce stick out from the pumpkin). Use the hot glue gun to glue the folded edge of the lettuce along the center of the pumpkin.

STEP 3: Fold the end of the cut in half tomatoes before gluing it onto the pumpkin (this will make the tomatoes stick out from the pumpkin). Use the hot glue gun to glue the folded edge of the tomatoes along the center of the pumpkin over the folded edge of the lettuce.

STEP 4: Fold the ends of the triangle cheeses. Use the hot glue gun to glue the folded edge of the cheese triangle on the BACK of the burger strip.

STEP 5: Glue the burger/cheese strips onto the center of the burger of the lettuce and tomato glued folded edges. Repeat until the burger goes around the whole pumpkin.

And, you’re done! How cute would this pumpkin be combined with a Bob’s Burger costume?

Day 8 of my 50 DIY Days: 10 Fall Door Decor Ideas

Yay, it’s Fall! Do you decorate your front door? We never go crazy with our door decorating. I mean, our Halloween door decoration took me about 5 minutes to put up. It works for us, but some people like to go all out. Do you go crazy with decor, or do you keep it simple? Either way, I want to see your Fall front door decorations.

I’ve teamed up with Masonite Doors to judge a Fall Front Door Contest!  At the end of October I’ll wander through the entries and pick one person to win a $100 Visa gift card. I know you’re already sharing photos like crazy on Facebook and Instagram, so why not share them with us so you have a chance to win?

What to do to enter this contest:

Share a photo of your Fall front door right here on the Masonite Facebook page. OR, you can head to Instagram and share the photo of your front door and tag me, @thepapermama, and Masonite, @masonite_doors, in the photo. That’s all you need to do for a chance to win the $100 Visa gift card.

Below you can find some inspiration for your Fall door below.

1) The beautiful wreath that looks like is made from painted leaves. The pumpkin is also lovely and would be simple to make with a stencil and paint. Found on the HGTV blog.

Day Fall Decoration: Maple Tree Seed Wreath

Day 6 of my 50 DIY Days: Maple Tree Seed Wreath DIY

Still one of my favorite wreaths. I shared this guy last year on the BHG blog and I felt like it needed some more love. It’s a DIY that your kids can help you gather materials for. Head to the backyard, or park, and find some pine cones, acorns, and maple tree seeds. Add to a felt covered wreath and you have a beautiful door decoration. Since you’re finding 75% of the materials you need for this project from the outdoors this DIY is very low cost. Yay!

Supplies needed to create the Maple Tree Seed Wreath:

  • a collection of maple tree seeds
  • 20+ small pinecones
  • 50+ acorns
  • 1 foam wreath
  • about 1/2 a yard of teal felt
  • hot glue
  • scissors
