I love searching the internet for small space decorating ideas and it seems you guys really enjoyed my clever decorating ideas for small spaces post I put together a few weeks back, so I thought I’d share some more small space ideas with you on the Better Homes and Gardens blog! This time I’m talking all about neat laundry room DIYs for Small Spaces. You may recall that I live in a 950 square foot home and I know how tough it can be to create a functional home with barely any space to work with. Even if you don’t live in a tiny home these ideas could help you organize.
1. If your laundry room is in a space that’s pretty visible to the rest of the home, then make it pretty! This lovely little laundry room is colorful and nice to look at. Check it out on the A Beautiful Mess Blog.
2. I love pretty much everything about this laundry room makeover. My favorite part is the space saver idea to have a spot to hang clothes right above the machines. Found on Emerson Grey Designs.
3. This is one of my favorite laundry room DIYs. We have no where to hang clothes to dry in our home, so this is perfect. It’s folds up into the wall when you don’t need it. Found on Centsational Girl.

Good morning! I’m getting ready for the holiday season by adding more items to my shop. These cute pins are available through my Etsy shop, or if you’re in Portland you can find some of them at a few different stores around the area (Crafty Wonderland, Antler Gallery, Wanderlust, Tilde, and Darling Distraction).
First up: My Oregon Trail pin! I’m so excited about this one. I’m a born and raised Oregonian and it just makes me so happy to be selling this pin. If you grew up here you probably spent a lot of time in elementary school learning all about the Oregon Trail.
Next, we have my little floral crown pug! I finally have a pug pin for all those pug fanatics out there.
Lastly, I have the new corgi pin. It’s almost exactly the same as the last design, but the legs are just drawn a little different.

I may craft and make things for a living, but that doesn’t stop me from also crafting with my daughter. To be honest: crafting with my daughter is much more enjoyable than a lot of other art projects I work on. When I’m making things with her I try to be less of a perfectionist (I try) and it’s fun to see what she can do. She usually wants me to make my own version of whatever craft we are making, and she will make hers all on her own (with a little help from me here and there).
We recently started watching Creative Galaxy on Amazon Kids. The show is a “make-along, create-along” cartoon and it really inspires my kiddo! Each show highlights a creative craft (painting, music, sculpting, cooking, etc.) and it encourages kids to get excited about their own creative ideas and the process of using creative arts to solve problems. We may have zoomed through the whole first season, but luckily the second season of Creative Galaxy is starting on the 16th!
SO, since my daughter just started first grade (wow, time is flying by) today’s fun kid-project is all about erasers! Did you know you could make your own erasers? I had no idea. I was at the craft store and found this clay eraser kit right next to all the polymer clay. And, guess what? The erasers actually work!
Supplies needed for the erasers:
Eraser clay kit (I found mine at Michaels, but you can also find on Amazon)
Sculpting tools: something metal with a skinny flat side to cut (safe for kids to use), a few toothpicks, tweezers, and anything else you think might help.
Pencils
A straw to make bite marks.
An oven to bake the erasers!

TIP: After we made this video I did realize there might be an easier way to keep the erasers from squishing when you cut them. Pop them in the freezer for about 30 minutes and THEN cut them. Our watermelon got pretty squished during the cutting process, but it’s still fun and cute!
After we made these erasers my daughter felt confident to make her own set and she surprised me with them. How cute are they? She added sprinkles to her doughnut and she made a pickle guy all by herself. Ha!
The whole project costs were under $10 and we made a lot of erasers with that clay! If you need some more kid crafting inspiration I suggest you really do check out the Creative Galaxy show on Amazon Kids. A lot of kids shows drive me nuts, but this one is a-okay in my book. Let me show you what’s going on in my home. I have a pile of unorganized cords that always get mixed up. It’s frustrating to figure out which cord is mine when I’m digging through the drawer, or just trying to plug in my phone. I always grab the wrong one. I’ve had enough of this mess, so I cleaned it up and I shared how you can clean up your cord mess on the Better Homes and Gardens blog. I used some cute round stickers to label each cord and I provided the labels I designed for you to print for free (find the links on the BHG blog).

School has started for us and I officially have a first grader. OMG. I cannot believe it. Time is flying by and it really should slow down. Anyway, I’m always trying to come up with new ideas to keep my kiddo interested in her lunches. The other day I created this fun Alphabet Bento Lunch Idea. It definitely encourages her to play with her food, but I’m okay with that. I think it’s okay to sometimes have fun with your food. I found these awesome small alphabet cookie cutters at the store and I knew they would be perfect for cutting shapes out for my daughter’s lunch.
What’s in her lunch? A small cheese sandwich (she always wants a cheese sandwich), cheese alphabet (cut from slices of cheese), fresh raspberries from the garden (they are still growing), broccoli and a tomato, and some yummy blend of Crunchmaster® Original Multi-Grain Crisps and White Cheddar Multi-Grain crackers (she likes variety in her snacks). These Crunchmaster® crackers are made from brown rice and were new to us. Turns out my kiddo loves them!
After school my daughter reported that she really enjoyed this lunch and wants it again! She had fun spelling words on her Crunchmaster crackers and her friends helped her come up with things to spell. She spelled “cool”, “school”, “yummy”, and “fart”. Yup. She spelled fart, she is a 6-year-old. Ha! What I really love about this bento lunch is it’s not completely over the top. I do enjoy looking at those amazing lunches online, but I just don’t have that kind of time. My Alphabet Bento Lunch Idea is easy to create and not too crazy to put together on a busy school night.

It might not seem like it’s time for Halloween, but it is. Ha! It will be here before you know it and you might as well get crafting now. Right? If it feels like it might be just a little bit early for some Halloween crafting, then this DIY is for you. These planters look are the perfect decor to take you from the end of Summer through all of Fall. I love how they turned out and now I want to gold leaf and paint the real pumpkins we pick out from the pumpkin patch. I mean, I do have some gold leaf left…

Supplies needed to make my Pretty Painted Pumpkin Planters DIY:
Gold leaf kit (make sure you get the adhesive and sealer)
Pink and black paint (I used Martha Stewart paint)
Paint brush for the glue
Paint brush for brushing on the gold leaf
Paint brush for the paint

Directions:
Step 1: Draw a circle on the top of the pumpkin where you plan to cut out the hole for the planter. I just measured the top of my planter to get the right size.
Step 2: Use your hot knife to cut out the tops of the pumpkins along your circle line. Be careful, it’s hot!
Step 3: Grab your painters tape and tape off a section of the pumpkin near the bottom. Be sure to press the tape up against the grooves of the pumpkin so the adhesive doesn’t escape past the tape.
Follow the directions on your gold leaf package. I applied a layer of adhesive and followed that with some gold leaf. After I was done applying the gold leaf I added a coat of sealer to seal it in.
When the sealer is completely dry, use a knife to gently cut just below the tape on the gold leaf. Carefully peel off the tape (do this slowly so the gold leaf doesn’t peel off with the tape.
Step 4: Grab your paint and randomly brush on some paint around the pumpkin. Let that dry completely and add your plants! You are done!
