Wordless{ish} Wednesday: Forgotten photos

I was wandering my files, and found these poor forgotten photos from my trip to Napa. Some delicious espresso from my first day there. These photos make me feel relaxed.

Happy Wednesday!

My favorite way to cook broccoli…

First, you’re welcome. Ha! The following is most simple way you can cook broccoli (well, maybe microwaving would be easier…  boring). Anywho, it’s delicious! I’m not really a fan of cooking and this is so easy, I don’t mind making it at all (plus, garlic broccoli = yum). Here’s how I make it:

Ingredients:

– Broccoli

– 4 garlic cloves (minced)

– Olive oil

– Salt

– Pepper

Directions:

Set your oven to 400 degrees. Cut up your broccoli into similar sized pieces. In a bowl, toss your broccoli with some olive oil. Blend in the minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Spread your broccoli mixture onto a baking sheet (I suggest using a baking sheet that has sides). Put your mixture into the oven for 15 to 25 minutes. The time will all depend where you are and how “crispy” you’d like your broccoli. At around 15 minutes I take a few pieces out for my daughter, and around 22 – 25 minutes I take the whole thing out for my husband and I (since we like our baked broccoli a little  more crispy).

That’s it! It’s just so simple to put together, and the actual cooking part takes no effort… you do have to open and close the oven. Ugh. BUT, it’s not that bad. Hee. The best part: my kiddo loves baked broccoli. She always asks for the “Garlic Broccoli”.

Happy Tuesday,

Goodbye, Tree.

This last weekend we had to say goodbye to a good fried… one of our flowering cherry trees. It was surprisingly hard for me to actually give the “OK” to cut her down. She was old. Maybe as old as our 90-year-old house? I don’t know. I do know that she was dying. With every heavy wind, a good sized branch would come crashing down. It was getting too dangerous, so we chose to say goodbye.

I look at the stump in our front yard and get sad, but we will replant. I think we are going to plant a big pear tree. Something we can get food from. Take down a tree: replant a tree. That’s my way of thinking.

Now I’m saying goodbye, to the tree that provided many years of shade and beautiful spring flowers. Goodbye, Tree. We will miss you.
