Day 25 Sweet Treat: Mini Doughnut Recipe (perfect for Elf on the Shelf)

Mini Doughnuts Recipe

Day 25 of my 50 DIY DaysMini Doughnut Recipe

I shared this little recipe a couple of years ago, but it’s so cute I wanted put it back on the blog for this year’s 50 DIY Days. I made these mini doughnuts for one of our Elf on the Shelf nights and my daughter thought it was so funny. I propped up the doughnut poker chip “plate” right next to her elf and in the morning my kiddo got a little sweet treat, courtesy of our elf.

They’re easy to make, check out the “recipe” below.

Supplies:

  • Store bought frosting
  • Sprinkles
  • O’s cereal
  • Toothpicks
  • Optional: a poker chip for a plate

Directions:

Mini Doughnuts Recipe

Step 1: Pick out a couple dozen O’s.

Step 2: Use the toothpick to scoop a tiny amount of frosting out of the container, then spread it onto the tops of the O’s.

Step 3: Pour some sprinkles onto a plate. Dip the frosted side of the O into the sprinkles. Use your finger to gently secure the sprinkles onto the frosted O.

Mini Doughnuts Recipe

Step 4: Use a toothpick to poke a hole through the frosted side of the O (to clear the hole of frosting).

Step 5: Repeat the above steps until you have enough doughnuts! Let the doughnuts sit for a couple hours until the frosting is hard.

Step 6: To serve these mini doughnuts, you can place them on a poker chip “plate”, or maybe create a tiny box out of cardstock paper.

Done!
