Flashback Friday: Maupin, OR

{Pregnant me at 5 months}

We’re going to flashback just a teeny bit today. All the way back to September 2009! I believe I was about 5 months pregnant. My belly was just starting to really show. And, baby was really kicking!

{Mike and Chelsey on the Deschutes!}

We went to Maupin, OR on the Deschutes River with Mike’s family. It was wonderfully relaxing. Oh, in case you’re wondering: It’s pronounced “moppin'”. “)

Oh, and I was totally a grumpy preggo! Our hotel had a fire pit that the locals and a few hotel stayers partied all night at. Right outside our door till like 3 am! Oh, I was a grumpy lady. I need my sleep!

Product Review: Burts Bees Baby!

{Burts Bees for Baby: on Amazon}

We have been using the Burts Bees Baby products on our soon to be 5 month old for almost 4 months now. We received two different gift baskets of these baby items as baby shower gifts… so we we’re set!

{Burts Bees baby oil: on Amazon}

The packs I received came with Baby Oil, Baby Shampoo, Baby Lotion, Baby Dusting Powder, Baby Diaper Cream, and a Baby Comb (this doesn’t really work for my little baldy!). We really enjoy these products. I’m a HUGE Burts Bees fan. I always make sure I have some Burts Bees Lip Balm with me.

{Love the diaper cream!: on Amazon}

We’ve had a chance to use each product multiple times with the exception of the dusting powder and the comb (I have a bald baby). Both gifts came in a basket that we reused and now use them to hold diapers. Nice!

{Basket that came with the gift: now holds diapers!}

Why I love it:
– Smells great! Seriously: Each item smells great! Even the diaper cream!
– Easy on baby’s skin: and my baby has some sensitive skin. We can’t use any wipes on her that contain chemicals. Immediate diaper rash!
– The oil is great for cradle cap. Ruari had some cradle cap that we wanted to get rid of without any chemicals. We just applied this to her scalp… let it sit for a couple hours and it really loosened up the cradle cap. Her hair really started to grow after that!
– Diaper cream works! It cleared up a diaper rash in one day! AND, it smells good! No mediciny smell.
– All their products are: Paraben Free, Sulfate Free (SLS-free), Petrochemical Free, and Phthalate Free
– Cute packaging… I know: silly. But, really cute packaging!
– The company has a commitment to the environment. Check it out.

– The products are not 100% natural. But, that’s really hard to find these days anyway. Each item clearly posts what percentage natural they are. It ranges from around 95% – 99% or so.
– The diaper cream instructions are not very clear. Yes, this is a strange downside… but, I’m a first time mom that has MANY questions. Do I need to rub it in till it’s not white? How many days should I use it? Etc…
– The oil came in a very tiny bottle. But, we found that if we just put a little oil on a cotton ball it goes a long way!
– The dusting powder came in a very small package. I haven’t used it though. So no biggy! 😉
– A little spendy. Ours were free gifts, but when we replace it will be a little expensive. But, you are paying for a product that is mostly natural.

{Ruari and Mike after a bath. 2.5 months}

Yes: I recommend this product. Of course, each person is different and may not feel the same way. But, this mama loves this product. I’d suggest buying a sample set to start out. It’s not too expensive and if you don’t love it: You don’t have a years supply to go through! 😉

Note: Hello my readers. I was not paid to do this review. I am just providing an opinion to help any decision making on purchasing this product. They are just opinions and each individual may feel differently. Thanks soooo much for reading! I hope my opinions help!

Thursday’s Three: Honey bee

{Ruari Bee at 20 weeks}

{Photo from: Bees and Chicks blog}

This weeks Thursday’s Three is inspired by the naughty bee’s building a hive in the attic of our detached garage!

There is now a steady stream of bee’s flying into the cracks of our old rickety garage. Ugh. I am very against killing the bees… Mike wants to spray bug killer in there. I don’t! Doesn’t he know the bees are dying! Plus: How many stories have you heard about people trying to get rid of bee hives on there own? I’ve heard plenty (many from my uncles) and it never ends well. The bees usually win!

{Photo from: Bees and Chicks blog}

I’ve read there are some bee keepers that will come and remove your swarm for free… but, who really wants to climb up into my squirrel (yeah, they’re there too) and bee infested attic of my garage? I have a feeling it may be spendy to pay for it to be removed… hmmm….

On to my three:
1) This first pick is the cute little Wheely’s from Prince Lionheart. I love the bumble bee, but they also come as a lady bug and a cow. And, they come in two sizes. I’ve also seen a mouse and a tiger. So cute!

2) This amazingly sweet dress has some bee print fabric on the waist. I found this at the Etsy shop: Lottie Da Baby. Wow, please check them out. There are so many dresses on there that I think I need! Definitely a fave! By the way: this is a new shop… so, show them some love!

3) A cute little baby beanie from Daisy Mae Hats. Please check out this shop to find some more sweet creations! I want them all!

Have you seen me? Hello?

{Sophie the missing Giraffe!}

I have looked EVERYWHERE and cannot find Sophie! I brought her to my Grandma’s for Mother’s Day and haven’t seen her since. I’m always so good at keeping track of her… Baby needs to chew on her!

I bet she’s under something in this messy house of mine. Maybe I’ll find her soon. I hope! Look how lost Ruari looks without her… 😉

Simplicity cell phone photo challenge: What makes me happy?

{Mike’s wine and the sunset: September 2008}

This challenge is a little unique. We have to take a cell phone photo of what makes us happy. Well, my lame phone takes photos… but, I cannot figure out how to get the photos off of this phone onto my computer! So, we’ll have to do a little flashback to September 2008 (This is when I had a cool iPhone. I don’t know why I ever switched!). This challenge was inspired by the book: The Best Camera is the One That’s With You. I am really going to have to check this book out!

Mike and I were in Greece for our honeymoon. My camera decides to break on our 2nd night there! So, here we are in Greece with only a cell phone for taking photos. We did get a ton of great photos with it though! This one was taken from our hotel balcony of the sunset over the Caldera. So pretty! *What makes me happy is watching the sunset with my hubby and a nice glass of wine.*

And, there was a really sweet couple from California that let us borrow their camera for the remainder of our trip since they were headed home! Can you believe it? That was amazing. We were able to take photos on our honeymoon with a real camera. When we got home we sent back their camera with a bottle of wine. That was sooooo nice!

Let’s see what you can do:
