Day 5 Costume: Last Minute Pregnancy Ice Cream Cone Costume

Day 5 Costume: Last Minute Pregnancy Ice Cream Cone Costume

Day 5 of my 50 DIY Days: Last Minute Pregnancy Ice Cream Cone Costume

Guys. I’m pregnant. There is this massive belly in my way (I’m running into everything) and it’s only going to get bigger. What am I going to do for Halloween? I had so many ideas, but I think this one might be it. I’ve dressed up as an “ice cream cone that fell on the floor and is now upside down” as my 5-year-old daughter put it. It’s really the PERFECT last minute costume for a pregnant lady. It’s comfortable, inexpensive, and I’m craving ice cream like crazy. If you’re not pregnant you can still dress up as ice cream, check out Kelly’s Ice Cream Cone costume. You and your friends could all dress up as ice cream!

Supplies needed:

  • colorful stretchy skirt that can fit over your belly (I found mine on Amazon)
  • colorful crop top shirt (I found mine on clearance at H&M)
  • 2 or 3 different colors of felt for the sprinkles
  • heavy duty double sided tape
  • hot glue
  • heavy cardstock paper
  • scissors
  • free printable Waffle Cone
  • red shoes
  • hair pins

Directions:

STEP 1:

Print out the free printable Waffle Cone onto the cardstock paper. Cut out the shape. Roll it into a cone shape and use the hot glue gun to glue it together.

STEP 2:

Cut sprinkle shapes (small rectangles) out of the colorful felt.

STEP 3:

Use the heavy duty double sided tape to attach the sprinkles all over your pregnant belly. If you’re not worried about the sprinkles being a permanent addition to the skirt, then you can use hot glue to attach the sprinkles.

STEP 4:

When it’s time to wear your costume put on your skirt, shirt, and red shoes (the cherry). Grab your hair pins and hair clips and use them to attach the Waffle Cone hat to your head. You’re ready! This last minute costume is so easy and can easily be made the day of your Halloween party (as long as you have the materials).

Day 4 of my 50 DIY Days: Mustache and Googly Eyes Door Decor

We love Halloween in our home, but I feel like I never have enough time to truly decorate for Halloween. Portland Eats: Kenny and Zukes

PDX Eats: Kenny and Zukes

PDX Eats: Kenny and Zukes

Today I’m sharing another favorite Portland Eats: Kenny and Zukes.

This delicious Portland delicatessen is one of our go-to breakfast spots in the city. If we can’t decide where to go, and maybe we have some friends in town that want to eat some good Portland food, we head here because we KNOW the food will be great. Always. There’s a great menu with amazing pastrami, pickled goodies, bagels and bialies, and they also make some amazing bloody marys. It’s almost like a breakfast by itself with the pastrami and pickled goodies.

Day 3 of my 50 DIY Days: Floral Coffee Mug DIY

It’s really no secret that I love coffee mugs and I *might* have too many… might. I mean, the thing is that I want my coffee to sit in a cute vessel, not something plain and boring. That’s why I like to makeover plain coffee mugs! Plain white coffee mugs are pretty darn easy to find. Most stores (like Target or Cost Plus) carry plain white mugs, but I suggest checking out your local thrift shop. There’s a ton of mugs that are in great shape and just need a new home (and makeover). I used paint for all of my past coffee mug makeovers, but for this Coffee Mug DIY I got to try something new. I just found out that Mod Podge now makes a dishwasher safe gloss. Yup! That opens up my crafting mug options to using fabric, glitter, and even paper items. SOOooo, that’s what I did for this DIY. I created three lovely floral printables (that you can download for free on the original Better Homes and Gardens blog post).

Supplies you will need to make my Floral Coffee Mug DIY:

  • white coffee mug
  • free printable coffee mug florals (printables found on the Better Homes and Gardens blog post)
  • Mod Podge Dishwasher Safe Gloss
  • soft paintbrush
  • scissors
  • rubbing alcohol
  • clear acrylic sealer spray

So, the glue used for this project does need 28 days to cure, but that means you still have plenty of time to get these mugs made for Christmas gifts! If you want to check out the full Floral Coffee Mug DIY (and get the free printables to make your own), head on over to the original Better Homes and Gardens post.

Of course you don’t have to buy each and every item to make these costumes awesome, they’re all just suggestions. What I love about these costumes is you can wear most of these clothing and accessory items again, besides just Halloween (that’s awesome). Last year I actually dressed up as the lovely Linda. If I wasn’t pregnant I’d totally dress up as the lady version of Bob this year…
