Local Love: Feast Portland

Feast Portland

I’m just popping in to tell you guys about something that happens here in Portland once a year: Feast! It’s a massive food festival that attracts visitors from all over to eat some of the best food around.

I haven’t had the chance to attend Feast in the past, but I will be there this year! I LOVE food and I love a good festival that celebrates yummy food. I’ll be headed to a few different events, but I’m most excited about the Brunch.

Feast Portland

So, if you’ve been considering a trip to Portland in the next month and haven’t set a date yet, come on this week and buy yourself some tickets to a few feast events. A LOT of it is sold out, but there are still some events available (including a big wine tasting).

Maybe I’ll see you there? You can check out all the info here.

First Day of School Signs – Free Printables for you to Use for 2016 – 2017!

First Day of School Signs - Free Printables for you to Use for 2016 - 2017!

Sorry, kids. It’s that time of year again! It’s time to head back to school. Yup! My daughter is actually EXTREMELY excited for school to start back up again. She really misses seeing her friends everyday, and let’s be honest: it’s not really fun hanging out with me and a sleeping baby for most of the summer. She’s ready.

Last year I used a printable sign I found online for her to hold for first day photos, but this year I wanted to get a little more creative and I made my own First Day of School Signs. Print the signs, cut the number or letter out, and then tape them to a wood skewer. Your kiddo can hold up the number of the grade they are headed into! My kiddo will be holding this 1 when her first day comes along. Oh my goodness, I’m going to have a first grader!!! Where has the time gone? ::insert crying emoji right here::

If you don’t feel like cutting these out, that’s fine. Your kiddo can just hold up the sign. It works. If you do cut out the number, I recommend printing these signs onto heavy cardstock paper. It will hold up better for your photos.

Moms: are you ready for school to start again? I know I am. I love love LOVE my little 1st grader so much, but I definitely need a break. I swear I have answered about 100 questions about EVERY single thing each day since school was out. Ha! What’s really nuts is when she’s back in school I’m going to really miss seeing her all day. Motherhood is weird.

If you use these signs for your kid’s back to school photos and you share it on IG, be sure to tag me @thepapermama! I’d love to see. Happy back to school!

1) Dress up the stained floor in your garage with some tile. It will really brighten up the space and feel more welcoming and I bet it’s easier to clean. Found on Handmade Charlotte.

3) My tiny house only had one built in closet when we first bought it. That makes storing items kind of difficult, so a couple years ago my husband and I built a Mini Pantry. We fit it into the tiniest little space in our kitchen. Check out the DIY on the Home Depot Blog.
