Last week: My little trip.

Why was I in Cali? Welp, I was there to visit the Toyota Headquarters. If you missed it, I joined the TWIN a couple weeks ago. AND, right away they sent the new members on over to Cali, to learn some things. I learned a loooot. Not just about cars. I learned about Toyota. What really sticks out to me is all the charity work they do. Yes, every company does charity work… but, I was so impressed with their massive charities they support.

My favorite part was getting to hang out with a beautiful bunch of bloggers (plus, the toyota peeps we hung out with were pretty awesome too). A couple of TWIN ladies I hung around with most: Jenni and Kristi. (And, even Jess).

I also stayed one extra day to hang out with some friends in Cali… I have more photos to share soon… I may have gotten a tattoo. Hee!

P.S. I hate flying. I hate flying. I do not like flying. Goodness. Both landings were rough and I no like. That’s all.

Christina’s Wedding

A couple of weeks ago my friend, Christina, celebrated her wedding. It was a wedding planned in 2 weeks. Originally scheduled for July… we moved it up due to a family member being very sick. It was pretty darn amazing…. a wedding plan completely scrapped, and planned in such a short amount of time. I really wish all weddings could be planned that way. It would be so much less stress for everyone.

Very limited decorations… simple… beautiful. We started off at her parent’s home, moved on to the Firehouse for the reception, and ended at the Voice Box for some karaoke… of course.

P.S. I am SOoooo not into singing in front of people, but the bride made me. We sang, “A Whole New World”… you know, Aladdin. We used to dance around Christina’s house as youngin’s being silly and singing that song. <3

I love you sweet Christina!

Pahlus: cake toppers were drawn by me, all photos are from http://powersstudios.com/ AND I found my sweet blue dress from Wanderlust in PDX.

Weed Killer Recipe – Kill Weeds Without Pesticides

Weed Killer Recipe - Kill Weeds Without Pesticides

WEED KILLER RECIPE:

The other weekend my husband mentioned something weird: he was going to spray our 1 million dandelions with vinegar. Umm. Ok. I thought he was insane (well, after almost 10 years together I already knew he was crazy, but this was almost solid proof, ha).

My daughter and I decided to wander away for a walk while we left him to his vinegar spraying job. Two hours later we came home to a vinaigrette smelling yard. No joke, it smelled like a crazy salad. This made me think my husband really had lost it this time with our salad-smelling-yard.

One week later… I was proven wrong. He knew how to kill weeds the most tree-hugging way he could come up with: Vinegar + Soap. I had no idea he was doing all this research. I am usually the more earth-friendly person in this family, so when the hubs participates in my hippie ways I love it.

Our weed killer recipe worked! Our weeds were dying less than a week later. This made pulling them out about 1 million times easier. The lack of massive chemicals made me smile and the local squirrels and birdies threw a party (the wildlife is crazy here).

All that matters is my husband was right. Dang. I’m admitting it.

Here’s the formula: 2 cups white vinegar and 1 tablespoon dish soap. Blended into a spray bottle (P.S. I’ve heard a little bit of salt added to this mixture helps). FYI: It’s pretty important to do this on a warm and sunny day to draw out the moisture.

Weed Killer Recipe - Kill Weeds Without Pesticides

So, here’s a little fancy smart info for you: Vinegar removes moisture… which means, when sprayed on foliage, the water in the leaves is drawn out. This can’t guarantee the killing of the root (if it’s an old weed it might be harder to get rid of). Adding soap to your vinegar helps break down the waxy coating on the foliage. The plant is more susceptible to the active ingredient, vinegar. Yup: awesome.

Note: avoid spraying this on plants you want to keep alive.

The Paper Mama Shop

Wordless{ish} Wednesday: Wellll, I’m here!

I’m in Cali… meeting fantastic bloggers. Enjoying awesome food. Pretty darn awesome.

In case you missed it, I’m here to visit Toyota as a TWIN member (Toyota Women’s Influencer Network). Today we’ll be doing some test drives and learning a bit more about Toyota. Plus, I really wanted to share a little something with you guys. Toyota is doing a 100 Cars for Good. Pretty much: through August 21st, voters’ have a chance to do their own good deed by voting for their favorite organizations and causes. Toyota is giving away 100 cars to nonprofits. You can vote once a day because each vote counts and each day brings another new car to another deserving organization. I really love this. It’s a simple vote, if you want to take a moment to go check it out! Really cool.

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you’re all having a wonderful week!
