What would I do over?

When asked the question, what would your do over moment be? What would you say?

My do over moment… the first tattoo. Yeah. That darn thing. I wouldn’t change the experience (my friend, Kelsey, and I had so much fun). Buuut, I would definitely put more thought into it. I mean really…. a tribal butterfly on my hip? Why? Well, because I was 18 and I could get a tattoo. That’s why. Silly.

How did I pick out this beauty? Well, I went home and Googled, “Tribal Butterfly Tattoo” (Yes, there was internet back then). This guy popped up in my search. I thought, “Yeah! I want that on my hip! That’s phat.” Well, I didn’t say phat… I never got the whole “phat” thing. ANY who… I digress. Kelsey and I headed to the tattoo shop… she got a chinese symbol on her left hip and I got a butterfly on my right. We are awesome. The lady that tattooed us clearly did not care at all. It was a terrible ink job. Truly. I think she was just happy to get those two random 18-year-olds out of there.

Someday I may try and fix it. I don’t know. No one can see it. So, it’s not really an issue. I just know: if I could skip getting the most random of random tattoos ever… I would. Plus, I don’t think 18-year-olds should be allowed to get tattoos without some sort of 1 year waiting period… ‘You want t a tribal butterfly on your hip? That’s great! But, there’s a one year waiting period for you to think it over. K?’

Any tattoos you regret? Barbed wire, old boyfriends, or tribal butterflies? Hee. I guess the good part is you can always get them covered up.

oooooh, potty training.

Everyday Victories logoThank you to P&G and Kroger stores for celebrating “Team Mom’s Everyday Victories”! Please visit the P&G’s event page to play games, win money off your next Kroger trip and more fun!

Oooooh, potty training. I knew it was time when Ruari said, “Mama, can you teach me how to poop on the toilet?” I mean really… To me, that meant it was time. I prepared the moment. We got all the proper tools. A Dora toilet. YES, I bought her a Dora toilet. She loves Dora, so I thought she’d like to poop on her. My Little Pony undies. She loves ponies… so, yeah. Pretty princess pull up diapers. Gifts and stickers. I was ready.

I thought we had made it. I thought we were there. Ruari came running into the room… sat on her toilet… and peed. I jumped up and down, so excited, praising her… and, gave her a toy pony. See, toy ponies are like her crack. This was my victory, I had thought… The next day: she did #2. All by herself. yes! I was potty training my kid (well, she was training herself). She did this a few more times… then, gave up. She said, “I don’t want to pee in the toilet!” So, that was it. She peed on the floor. She begged for us to put on her diapers. Bah. Frustrated, I gave up. I’ve still given up.

But… I’ve realized something. It’s ok. She doesn’t need to be potty trained right this minute. She thought it was what she wanted… but, turns out it was not. We’ll keep trying. But, I’m not pushing her. I think if she’s still not potty trained by the time she is 3, we will just get tough (maybe try that crazy 3 day potty training plan or something). But, for now. We’ll take it slow. I’ve learned this will help me keep my sanity. My husband will keep his sanity. We’re terribly sick of diapers, but I’m more sick of cleaning up potty/poopy accidents.

So, I do have a victory: Accepting that my girl will potty train when she is ready. I don’t need to stress. And, I’m totally cool with that. ::high fives all around::

Wordless{ish} Wednesday: Jamison Square

 {Ruari’s style //Dress: thrifted//Sandals: Saltwater’s thrifted//}

Last Friday… I really needed to get out of the house (we may have had a major meltdown day… oh man). SO, I called Mandey to see what she was up to. I made my way over to 23rd… and there was a thrift store. Right there. Bwa ha ha. So, I bought a table. Then, met up with Mandey. We quickly realized that the small 23rd Ave sidewalks weren’t going to work with my stroller and her double stroller… so, we walked over to the Pearl.

Jamison Square Park. This park is like a kid’s dream! Blocks to climb on, water to pee in play in, and a grassy spot for a picnic. In the middle of the city. The Pearl District. Just a quick walk away from where my hubs and I got married (on the beautiful terrace of the Ecotrust building).

Anywho, we had a lovely time. This was the first time I met Mandey’s boys. They are pretty darn adorable. Carrying around their little cars with them… everywhere! Ha! Cute.

Brunch at the Doug Fir with ladies

Back on June 3rd, I had a lovely brunch with some bloggy ladies. BUT, I kept forgetting to share the photos. It was a quick planned get together on twitter. All of these ladies are so sweet and wonderful and I enjoyed their company. We met up at the Dough Fir for some grub. Of course I had to get a bloody mary, because well… because. I started out this brunch kid-free, but my husband came by to pick me up. So, we (well, I) made him take a group photo.

Ruari was sure to smile and be cute for all the ladies. She even asked Sarah for a hug and a kiss goodbye. Ha!

The ladies: Ruari and I, The Friendly Fox, @xochiana, Vanilla and Lace, Whiskey and Wine, The Velvet Bird, and Zephyr Sarah.

Bow name tags + gift tag

A little free goodie for you lovely people! I needed some name badges for the PNW Blogger Meet Up, so I whipped up these sweet bow name tags. I really loved how they turned out. I drew them out by hand, and did some edits in Photoshop. Added all the blogger’s first names + Blog names. Cut them out. Hot glue the pins. Done.

I wanted to share the bows as a free print out for you! I used these as name tags, but these will work perfectly on any gift. Click here to download (right click + save).

The lovely Boho Mama is modeling the name tag for you (Megan, sorry I’m making people look at your booby area… hee):

If you use this for a project, let me know! We used these bows to label my friends weddings favors about 3 weeks ago. It was cute.

Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day to my husband! This is a collection of videos my mom recorded on her little camera. I was still in surgery during this… and, I’ve avoided watching these videos because of the feelings it brings up. But, I’m happy I put this clip together. By the way: I totally balled when I watched the final version. I’m happy to have it and share it.

Happy Father’s Day to all you good dad’s out there too!

P.S. I put this together on Animoto.
