Wanderlust

Beats Antique = Love them. Amazing.

First we saw: Ziggy Marley… followed by the awesome… Gramatik.

Well, I was lucky enough to be sent to the wonderful Wanderlust Festival in Colorado last week (sent by Toyota). This festival is for yoga lovers…. while I’m into yoga (when I say “into it” I mean… I used to do it… and, now I do nothing), I didn’t really take away a ton of yoga knowledge from this event. I was more into the people. Yup. The amazing people. Everyone was so sweet and nice. PLUS… I met/saw some amazing inspiring folks: Aron Ralston, Deepak Chopra, and the Wanderlust creator, Jeff.

My favorite moments: Riding the chair lift on the first day… and, eventually realizing that there is a support bar that pulls down over us… safety. Ha! The meditation class… I had to go back to my room to nap. Aron Ralston’s talk… I definitely cried, mostly when he share the photo of his 2 1/2 year old. AND, the  last night: we started with a Ziggy Marley show….. and Terra and I stayed up WAY too late. 2 am… My brain was so tired the next day.

This really was an amazing experience. I don’t feel like there’s much more I can say. Just: What a wonderful community.

Wordless{ish} Wednesday: Into the wild

{Outfit: //Shirt: thrifted//Skirt: about 6 years old…//Shoes: Target//}

Well, hanging out at Copper Mountain Resort isn’t exactly “into the wild”, but I was surrounded by beauty. I set out on my adventure last Wednesday (yeah, I was traveling for the whole 4th of July). Why was I there? Well, I was sent to check out the Wanderlust Festival. How do I describe Wanderlust? Hmmmm, well if you love yoga, hiking, and just plain life… this is for you.

I have so much more to share about the people and experiences at Wanderlust… but, it’s going to take a bit of time to organize the millions of lovely words and photos I have.

So, for today I just want to share how beautiful Colorado is. I have never been to this state. Most of the Denver/Copper Mountain area does remind me of Southern Oregon. It’s gorgeous… and whoa: the elevation. By the time we had made it up to the festival, we were close to 10,000 feet. I’ve never been this high (only in a plane). And then, we took the lift up the mountain to enjoy the beautiful view… that took us up to 12,000 feet. The elevation took a couple days to get used to (can you say… out of breath while walking up one flight of stairs). BUT, I loved it up on the mountain. So gorgeous.

I hope you all had a lovely holiday week… and, have a beautiful Wednesday!

The Paper Mama “Pet” Photo Challenge

Well, it’s that time of year again. The time when little Mr Angus gets eaten alive by nasty fleas. Yuck.

It always starts around May each year… Poor little pup starts biting and scratching (and, of course passes these neat fleas onto our kitties). He’s pretty much miserable if we don’t get some flea medicine on him. Maybe since he’s so tiny they just bother him more? I don’t know.

I try to love all creatures… I pretend they all have a purpose (even those scary spiders have a purpose)… But man, to me fleas are here to spread disease and lies (ok, maybe not lies but I bet if they could talk they would be swindlers. Hee).

Any who, I don’t like them. They think I taste delicious and I’m sure that’s true, but I’m not dinner. So, I give him flea meds (we use FRONTLINE Plus), which takes a couple days, but he feels better without all those biting bugs. And no more fleas biting me! Yay!

In my celebration of these dead fleas (that sounds dark), I want to do a little photo contest! PLUS: I will give a $50 gift card to one of you. Yup. To the winner I choose.

Dress Redo

Last week I found this dress on the clearance rack for $10. I REALLY didn’t like the top portion of it (so unflattering/uncomfortable), but the bottom flowy skirt part was lovely + I loved the floral print. While at the store I stared at the dress for a few minutes and, like the weirdo I am, I pulled the dress up over my clothes to see how it would look as a skirt. I really loved it. So, after many side eye looks from my daughter… I purchased the dress.

The cool thing about this dress redo… the waist already has elastic in it! SO I simply trimmed in between the stitching, folded in an inch at the skirt top, and sewed little stitches around (to keep it from flipping up). AND, done. I’m pretty darn pleased with the end result. I just added a little belt for extra support (you never know when someone may pants you… ha).

Ta da!
