Day 36 of my 50 DIY Days: Golden Tree Advent Calendar DIY (with printables)
It’s just about time to start your Christmas countdowns! Yay! I’m so excited for Christmas time (Christmas is my favorite + we will have a new little baby by that point). Each year I try to create a new countdown for the kiddo for Christmas. This year’s version is VERY simple to create and it took hardly any time to assemble. The boxes are easy to fold and they are easy to attach to the wall (with removable adhesive). Want to create this for your home? I found the majority of these supplies at a local craft shop. Check out how I made it below.
Supplies to create the Golden Tree Advent Calendar DIY (with printables):
- two sets of 20 qty gold favor boxes
- one box of pink honeycomb picks
- removable adhesive putty tabs
- wire cutters
- hot glue
- 24 or 25 small items to place in each box
- my free printable Diamond “topper” and 1 – 25 numbers
Directions:
Step 1: Assemble the golden boxes. My tree has 24 boxes, but you can add a 25th if you’d like. I only did 24 because I have a small gift for my kiddo to open on Christmas morning for the end of the countdown.
Step 2: When the boxes are all assembled, trim the toothpicks on the honeycomb picks to about 1/2 and inch. Then, use a needle to poke a hole through the center of each lid (you can widen the hole by pushing a toothpick through it).
Step 3: Poke the honeycomb pick through the top of the lid and use the hot glue to adhere it on the inside of the lid.
Step 4: Optional – print out the countdown numbers and put them inside the bottom of each box with a little hot glue.
Step 4: Decide where you want your little Golden Tree Advent Calendar to go. Add four little dots of the adhesive putty to the back of each box. For 24 boxes: Start with a base of 3 boxes. Place 6 boxes above that, then 5, 4, 3, 2, and finally 1. Print out the diamond tree topper, cut it out, and use the adhesive putty to attach it just above the tree. Add some treats to each box, add the lid, and you’re ready to count down to Christmas.
If you don’t want to attach this advent to the wall, no problem! Just place the boxes on a mantle and enjoy!
