Wednesday goodies: balance tape

3

2

Last weekend I was losing my mind with the crazy kid running around the house. I had quite a few deadlines I needed to meet, and the craziness was very distracting. Ha! SO, a random desperate thought came to mind: hmmm… she loves to balance, tell the husband to put a line of tape on the floor. Let’s pretend-balance!

It was a success. She was distracted, got a bit of energy out, and I got some work done. We’ve had the tape down since Saturday and she still loves it. I’ll probably pull it up this weekend, so I don’t have to deal with goopy tape later. BUT, for now… she gets a week of balance fun. Maybe we’ll try this trick again in a few months?

Wordless{ish} Wednesday: Jamison Square

 {Ruari’s style //Dress: thrifted//Sandals: Saltwater’s thrifted//}

Last Friday… I really needed to get out of the house (we may have had a major meltdown day… oh man). SO, I called Mandey to see what she was up to. I made my way over to 23rd… and there was a thrift store. Right there. Bwa ha ha. So, I bought a table. Then, met up with Mandey. We quickly realized that the small 23rd Ave sidewalks weren’t going to work with my stroller and her double stroller… so, we walked over to the Pearl.

Jamison Square Park. This park is like a kid’s dream! Blocks to climb on, water to pee in play in, and a grassy spot for a picnic. In the middle of the city. The Pearl District. Just a quick walk away from where my hubs and I got married (on the beautiful terrace of the Ecotrust building).

Anywho, we had a lovely time. This was the first time I met Mandey’s boys. They are pretty darn adorable. Carrying around their little cars with them… everywhere! Ha! Cute.

Revamped play kitchen

My little girl’s “new” play kitchen! I bought this goody at a local consignment shop for $25 last October/November. My intentions were to have it finished before her birthday and christmas in December. Of course that didn’t happen…. BUT, it’s finished now! It just need a bit of new paint, tightening here and there, and some love.

I painted a primer on the kitchen…. then sprayed it this lovely blue. For the sink, phone, and stove stuff I painted silver. THEN, the fun part… well, the time-consuming part: I mod podged tissue and vintage papers onto the shelves and inside the cupboards. It took a LOT of time for this part, but so worth it. I think it just makes this kitchen look so cute

We have this kitchen in her room now… her little tiny room. She loves making us dinner, washing her horsies in the sink, and making coffee with this kitchen. I’m so happy she loves it. It took a bit of time and work… but, for $25 (and all the fun she has with it) it was so worth it.

I see these kitchens on craiglist ALL the time for cheap. Keep your eye out! They can be like $200 new.

Wordless{ish} Wednesday: Christmas-timin’

We had the most amazing and lovely Christmas this year. It really just gets so exciting when your kid gets older and starts to understand the whole Christmas thing better. My favorite part of the day: just watching R have fun! Yup, that even beat getting an iPad for Christmas (sorta). So, normally I’m a picture crazy fool. But, for whatever reason this year (I think it’s because of my goal to BE in the moment… Not the photographer of the moment) I took no photos on Christmas day. This sort of bothers me…. But, I know I was having so much fun with my family… And, it’s ok. I don’t need the photos. My uncle had his camera out and documented the day. I just didn’t need to. Well, I did take one with my iPhone of my new pretty iPad. ;)

The next day I took some photos of Miss R (on the 26th) playing with one of her favorite gifts from Christmas. This little puzzle/wooden train from her Auntie and Uncle. It’s pretty amazing. She actually will sit still and play with it happily for 20 minutes straight! Yes, I said 20 minutes straight! No kidding around her. How amazing is that?

 Did you have the most amazing Christmas ever? I hope you did (if that’s the holiday you celebrate)! <3 Happy Wednesday!
