Three in one outfit: Aunt Louise + $100 Visa GC Giveaway!

I have traveled more in this last year than I have in the past 10 years before that. Every time I head out on a trip, I have this desire to buy all new outfits! I do not need to spend money on clothes for each and every trip (I mean, really), even though I want to. Ha! It’s just not necessary. I have a ton of lovely clothes at home and I try to create new and updated ways to wear the clothes I already have. WHICH means I need to take care of my clothes. My favorite pieces (my “fancy” clothes) are always hung to dry. I wash them in the washer, and line dry them to help preserve the quality.

In my attempt to save money and use what I already have, I like to see how many ways I can wear a favorite piece from my wardrobe. One of my best dress friends (yeah, my dresses and I are friends) is Aunt Louise. Yup. She’s been named. She’s fantastic. She’s lovely and sort of looks like she might have been made from the upholstery of a 60’s sofa…. oh man, I do love this dress.

Here’s my three-in-one outfit styling for Aunt Louise (P.S. I just did not want to put make-up on, so I now have a cat face):

Warm Weather: // Aunt Louise Dress: Anthropologie // Gold clutch: f21 // Shoes: Miz Mooz //

This is the perfect warm weather outfit. This dress is so comfortable and I love to wear it without a cardigan, as long as the weather is over 70. Ha!

Springy Weather: // Aunt Louise Dress: Anthropologie // Green bow sweater shirt: f21 // Gold scaly belt: thrift // Shoes: Lulu’s //

Sometimes I like to pretend this dress is a skirt…. that’s when I put on my little green bow sweater shirt and my amazing gold belt (a favorite thrift find).

Warm: // Aunt Louise Dress: Anthropologie // Scallop Cardigan: Anthropologie // Green Peter Pan Tights: h&m // Shoes: Skunkboy’s Closet //

This is my cool spring weather outfit. Most Oregon spring days are cool…. we get the random warm day, but mostly you’ll want a sweater (and probably an umbrella) while you’re out and about.

So, speaking of keeping my clothes… I was ALSO sent some Tide Pods. They are sort of like the lazy man’s detergent… which is fantastic! I’m personally not a fan of chores… laundry is right up there with cleaning the bathroom. Tide Pods makes my life easier. It’s a 3-in-1 detergent that cleans, brightens, and fights stains. Bam. Pretty much you just pop in that Tide Pods pac, and then you can stand out in your freshly awesome clothes. And they’re only 3-chamber unit dose on the market. Just one removes more stains than 6 caps of the liquid bargain brand. (Based on stain removal performance of one pac of Tide Pods vs. 6 doses of the leading liquid bargain brand base variant in a standard top loading machine.) I put these little pods in a cute jar in the laundry room. SO much cuter than a plastic jug of laundry detergent. Have you tried these yet?

One more thing: Tide Pods wants to give one of my special readers a $100 Visa Gift card to play with! Yeah! You can buy a new outfit and some Tide Pods! Just answer this question in the comments below: Tell me about something in your wardrobe that’s versatile and provides 3-in-1 style.

I love this little black v vest that I layer on top of a white button down shirt, a gray fitted dress and finally just a plain long or short tee. I bought it years ago, yet so simple and versatile. Thanks for the chance.

i have a light blue and gray full skirt that can definitely work 3 different ways. I wear it in the summer with a tank in sandals, in the winter with black tights and ankle boots, and in the spring with a cotton tee and a statement necklace. it's one of my few pieces that works year round!

    Hello!
I love the versatility of any type of dress – solids, patterns, halter, strapless and everything in between. Having the ability to have a great, statement dress, and then add tights, great shoes, a cardigan or even a great piece of jewelry; is what can really set an outfit apart. But first and foremost you need a clean, presentable outfit – which is exactly what Tide Pods does for me!

I have a blue sleeveless dress from Target that is super comfy and I wear a lot. Dressed up with a lace cami underneath, a statement necklace and heels. Dressed down with a cardigan and flats or sandals. Warmed up with a knit cardigan, leggings and riding boots.
A trick I started doing a while back: When I buy something I will spend a little time trying it on with different things I already have so I already know what it works with when I go to wear it.

3 in 1 style, I wish I had something in my closet that I could crank 3 varied outfits from. My weight has drastically yo yo'd over the last few years, now I'm on the thin side and trying desperately to make my "thin clothes" work hard for me. I love a button up shirt that I can either pair with shorts with the sleeves rolled up, or wear with jeans on cooler days. But what you did with that dress is what I hope to be able to do as my closet evolves.

I have to go with my jeans! Since I am pregnant and going in for my c-section next week, the choices are getting limited. I can wear them with loafers and a long sleeve t-shirt or dress them up with flats and a fitted sweater. I can always add a chunky necklace for a different look as well.

  • Janice Cooper on said:

My black leggings. I can wear them with a long sweatshirt, cute short top, or a nice long pretty blouse.

  • Rachel on said:

I have been trying to get more neutrals nowadays and also trying not to spend on clothes that aren't going to be used often (I used to get only eccentric looking clothes), but I think I have matured enough to be a bit wiser on the cost per wear for what I buy! So something that's versatile in my wardrobe would be my neutral colored shell top, which I can wear with virtually anything and looks great layered or not.

I do this to most of my outfits, so I really don't need to change wardrobes from season to season. It also helps that I live somewhere where winters are not too extreme. I have a favorite skirt that I do this to. Just change the tops and accessories, and I'm good to go no matter the season.

Love, love LOVE this dress!

For me it’s a classic button down white shirt, it goes with skirts, suits and instantly classes up my favorite jeans, it can be worn alone or layered under a cardi or jacket, that’s definitely 3-in-1 action right there! Second place would be Black Skinny Jeans as I can wear those with longer jackets for casual Friday at the office and then still rock them on the weekends too!

I have a silk racerback tank from Charlotte Russe with little orange bows on it that I can dress up with jewelry and dark jeans, or keep casual with sneakers and a bright cardigan (which I do most often). The 3rd look is with black leggings for a relaxed on-the-go style on a hot day. I love items that have a fun pattern that aren't difficult to pair with multiple accessories.

3 in 1 style? Jeans -definitely. I have a good pair from the Gap I wear constantly. with dresses (gasp!) with a cute blouse & heels or with a t-shirt and flip flops.
ALSO I've used those Tide pods just because they were on sale at my grocery store and SUPER cheap. I LOVE THEM. My hubs uses way too much detergent when he washes his clothes so this is a way to ration him. Also – no mess. Ever. Love that. Plus I always know exactly how much I have left. I never ever want to go back to buying any other kind of detergent. Someone gave us some powdered stuff – gross. I hate it. LOVE the pods.

One of my favorite Anthro dresses is also very versatile. During the summer I can wear it without anything extra or strapless (the straps come off) or dress it up with a belt and a cardigan for church. During the winter, I can pair it with a long sleeve top. I always get so many compliments when I wear it that way with people wondering "where did you get your skirt?" lol. Plus, I think it looks super cute with my glitter ballet flats or a pair of bright colored sandals.

    I just love Anthro clothing!

  • Michelle on said:

I make everything in my closet as versatile as possible! it's something I do pretty well. I specifically have a polka dot skirt I've had for at least 4 (5?) years now! Dude, that is the thing I am always most impressed by in other people's wardrobes…how they keep their clothes from getting destroyed like mine always inevitably do. I swear there is a fashion hating boogie man in my washing machine.

I love versatile clothing! One piece I love to mix throughout is a Zara dress I bought in Italy that is short in the front, long in the pack and is a light and comfy jersey material. It can be changed up, whether it is a throw over a bathing suit on a warm beachy day, or worn with a bandeau and a bright red belt and cute flats for walking around town in the summer, and even the other day I pulled it out in the winter weather and threw on some thick tights, a pair of tall vintage boots, and a chunky sweater on top to create a bundled winter look! Love the Anthro dress, and all of your shoes are too cute! I love a nice dress that can be mixed about! Cheers! Emily
