Chartha Standwert

Once upon a time…. I was obsessed with Martha Stewart. Ok, maybe I’m still obsessed. I just think she’s the bees knees and I’ve always loved her perfect awkwardness.

I’d dream of being the next Martha. I don’t want to be on TV…. or anything like that. BUT, I love her craftiness, books, and well all of it. A few years ago my sister asked me, “If you could change your name to anything, what would it be?” My answer: “Chartha Standwert.” My sister gave me a confused (maybe concerned) look. She said, “Uhhhh, what?” I guess I needed to explain, “I would change my name to Chartha Standwert. That is a combination of Chelsey Andrews and Martha Stewart. We will be as one.” Ha! Of course… I was mostly being silly, but I really love her.

Every time I’d hear anything bad about her… about her being rude to someone, or something along those lines, I’d defend her. Like she was my friend. Even when she went to prison. No way could my Martha do wrong. Hee.

When I found out Martha would be speaking as a keynote at BlogHer, I might have screeched excitedly… a little (or, a lot). She was lovely, confident, and funny. I’d say it was 100% the highlight of all the BlogHer events. No doubt about it. She did a little meet and greet afterward and I didn’t manage to see her. I wish I had. BUT, I probably would have drooled and said something along the lines of, “You pretty. Me love. Hot glue gun. Weeeee!” So, I’m sure it was for the best.

A wonderful wonderful wonderful keynote. A dream come true to see her! Now you know my secret obsession.

Next goal: Become bff’s with Martha. Heh. Kidding. Sorta…

I had a "Free Martha" t shirt in college with her face on it. I used to wear it with pearls like a lady like Martha would do. I wish I still had it.

I love her too. Seriously, when she comes on tv I talk about how beautiful she is and get all teary eyed while my bf looks at me like I'm crazy. 🙂

Your Martha Stewart obsession dates back to high school! When crafting wasn't exactly… cool. But you owned it. I still remember some of your first crafty gifts. Oh, and I think an obsession that lasts that long is actually called True Love.
