My pin-it back hair. I’ve been crafting this hair forEVER. It’s sort of always been my go-to hair-do. Basically: I pin back my bangs…. the side of my hair… a little bump in the back… and, then: a little side bun.
I really feel like there isn’t a right or wrong way to do this. You’re basically just grabbing pieces of your hair…. pushing it up for a little volume… and pinning.
How-to:
– Start with the bangs (mine are pretty long…. so, I pin them back…. you don’t have to do this if you have shorter bangs). Grab the bangs, push them up, and pin.
– Grab a side chunk of hair, push it up, and pin. And, repeat this on the other side.
– Grab a small chunk on the back of your head. Push it up and pin it. Seeing a pattern?
– With the last bit of hair: twist it into a bun and pin it to the side.
And, you’re done! Add some hair spray for hold…. pin any fly-aways. Add a bow. It’s very simple. A nice quick way to get your hair up and outta your face. Just a couple more steps than a pony tail or plain bun… but, so much cuter. Am I right? Hee.

I pinned my hair this way yesterday and today; thanks for the tips! I think I will go get myself some smallish hair combs for the side parts instead of using hairpins. Also, it works just as well to have the final bun in the center (today) as it does on the side (yesterday).

i want to tell you that for the past 3 years (ok, maybe 36!?!) i have never fixed my hair. never. for most of my life, my hair has been thick, irregularly wavy and also frizzy, yucky ugly hair. this morning, i dried it straight (brushed it out) and tried this updo. i have 2 kids and not much time in the morning so fast is all i can do. anyway, this took less time than straightening my hair with the straightener and it looks AWESOME! i just happened to have about a 5 year old bottle of hairspray (used once?) and i did spray it heavily. i didn't really know how to use bobbypins – these are left over from once when i was a bridesmaid. lol. i have no idea how to do the "bump" in the back. so seriously, thanks SO SO SO much for posting this. i always want to try your styles but i never think i can do it because i don't know how to use bobby pins ( i know that sounds silly) but they worked for me today! and i'm 4 hours into my day and not a hair has moved! 🙂 when i get home tonight, i'll get my husband to take a pictures and i'll put it on my blog – and link back to it here. THANK YOU!!!
